We currently have a vacancy for a Parent Governor in our School.
Our governors are friendly, committed and hardworking, from a wide range of backgrounds. They are focussed on making our school the best place for our children to grow and learn. You can find out more about what our governors do by vising the governor page of our school website.
School governors meet as a full board four times a year— three of these are during the day (usually starting at 12.30) and one is an evening meeting.
Governor also serve on one of the two Governors’ Groups which meet once every half term. School Business Group · Pupil Outcome Group. The Pupil Progress Group Meets in the afternoon and the School Business Group meets at 5.30pm.
Eligibility Parent governors are elected by other parents at the school. Any parent, or carer, of a registered pupil at the school at the time of election is eligible to stand for election as a parent governor. Parent governors may continue to hold office until the end of their term of office even if their child leaves the school.
Section 576 of the Education Act 1996 defines “parent” to include:
- All natural parents, whether they are married or not; and
- Any person who, although not a natural parent, has parental responsibility for a child or young person; and
- Any person who, although not a natural parent, has care of a child or young person.
Disqualifications The disqualification criteria set out in the relevant Regulations apply and these are set out on the form “Self Declaration ” which is attached below.Prospective governors are required, as part of the nomination procedure, to complete a self-declaration, to confirm that they are eligible to become a school governor. An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service certificate check will be required for the successful candidate.
Election - if more than one nomination is received a formal election will take place
Term of Office A parent elected or appointed as a Parent Governor shall hold office for a period of four years
