Welcome to Y5 which is taught by Mrs Whitehead supported by Mrs Ward.
We are looking forward to many exciting activities, this term, in Year Five.
In the morning our first job is to go to the park and run our daily kilometre. We are keeping a careful check on how many kms we run over the term. Children can change into their trainers for running.
Then we are back into class for handwriting/spelling, maths, writing and guided reading.
We have the maths scheme in school called "Maths, No Problem". We will be continuing to use this in our maths lessons.
This half term in school we will be working on our whole school theme of, "The Vile Victorians".
We will be carrying out activities linked to this topic and reading books in English about the theme. We will be reading, "Street Child by Berlie Doherty”.
We will also be going out of school on Monday afternoons to take part in "Outdoor Learning". We will link some of our activities to our theme. We are always appreciative of adult helpers in these sessions so please volunteer if you are available.
PE will be on Tuesday afternoons this term. It is very important that you have PE kit in school every day.
Please ensure you have a white T shirt, black shorts/track suits and trainers in school.
Earrings are not allowed to be worn during PE sessions. Please remove earrings or bring tape from home to cover them.
Home Learning will be sent home on Fridays. Please make sure it is returned by the following Thursday
We will be learning weekly spellings which you can practise at home. We will also be practising times tables and having a test each week.
Please continue to practise your reading at home. This is very important.
